Chery South Africa — Service Plans & Warranty, Decoded

Written and edited by Ethan Cole, Editor-in-Chief · ✓ Technically reviewed by Daniel Wei Chen — Senior Chinese Automotive Diagnostics & Repair Specialist, Sydney · 22 August 2026.

“Chery comes with a 5-year service plan” is what the showroom says. The official retail price list says something more interesting: the included plan ranges from 3 years/30,000 km to 7 years/90,000 km depending on the model — and one variant quietly carries a longer factory warranty than the rest of the range. Here is the whole structure, from the archived official documents.

The warranty stack

LayerCoverageThe condition
Factory warranty5 years / 150,000 kmStandard across the range — except the Tiggo 8 Pro Max: 7 years / 200,000 km
Engine warranty10 years / 1,000,000 kmLimited to the first owner — the asterisk that changes everything at resale
HV battery (hybrids)10 years / unlimited km
Roadside assistance24/7, year-round
The first-owner asterisk. The two headline warranties — the million-kilometre engine and the unlimited-kilometre battery — are printed with “limited to first owner” on the official price list. Buying used: the car reverts to the 5/150 factory cover (or 7/200 on a Pro Max). Selling: your million-km warranty is not a resale asset. Nobody at a dealership will volunteer this sentence; the asterisk does.

Service plans — model by model

ModelIncluded service plan
Tiggo 4 Pro (LiT / Comfort / Elite)3 years / 30,000 km — the range’s shortest, on its cheapest car
Tiggo 4 Cross (incl. HEV)5 years / 60,000 km
Tiggo 7 (all ICE variants)5 years / 60,000 km
Tiggo 8 Pro Executive+5 years / 60,000 km
Tiggo 8 Pro Max7 years / 90,000 km (+ the 7/200k factory warranty)
Tiggo 9 (incl. CSH)7 years / 90,000 km

Intervals: first service at 5,000 km / 6 months — early, and easy to miss on a new car — then every 15,000 km / 12 months. Dealer-network documentation ties warranty validity to never missing or being late for a service at an approved centre; treat the 6-month first visit as non-negotiable.

The four fees that arrive ex-VAT

The price list’s fine print adds, excluding VAT: metallic paint R1,000 · two-tone metallic R3,000 · PDI kit R1,500 · admin/training levy R450. Small numbers — but they’re quoted ex-VAT while the car’s RRP includes it, which is how a “R269,900 car” invoices higher. Ask for the drive-away figure in writing.
