MG South Africa — Warranty & Service Plans, Decoded

For MG vehicles registered in South Africa on or after 01/05/2026, the current official page separates a 5-year/150,000 km whole-vehicle warranty from a 7-year/200,000 km Power/Traction Battery-only warranty for EV/HEV/PHEV models. Each ends when its time or distance limit is reached, whichever occurs first. The same page does not resolve earlier registrations or publish the full terms it says dealers hold.

Declared conflict — the “7-year warranty” headlines. Launch-era press and some dealer pages cite a 7-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty or a 7-year engine warranty. The current official page applies to registrations on or after 01/05/2026 and lists 5 years/150,000 km for the whole vehicle, whichever occurs first, plus 7 years/200,000 km for the Power/Traction Battery only on EV/HEV/PHEV models, whichever occurs first. It does not settle what applied before that date. It also refers to eligibility for fourth through seventh-year warranty without naming what years six and seven cover. That difference remains unexplained; ask the dealer for the terms that apply to the vehicle in writing.

The unusual part: wear items are briefly covered

For registrations on or after 01/05/2026, these short limits apply only when the item’s failure results from a manufacturing or material defect: air and particle/pollen filters 3 months/10,000 km; brake pads and tyres 6 months/10,000 km; and Battery 1 year/10,000 km. The source names that last row only as “Battery”; it does not identify the battery type, so we do not assign one.

Warranty: MG South Africa’s current official warranty page for vehicles registered on or after 01/05/2026 (OEM-verified, quoted). It says full terms are available from MG dealers; the page itself does not publish them, resolve earlier registrations, or explain what its fourth-through-seventh-year eligibility statement covers in years six and seven. Service plans and launch prices: cross-verified motoring press; the official price list will be archived when published as a document. Before any used MG3 purchase: the NCC seat-frame recall check comes first.
