1. The low-speed off-road stall — no low-range, and it shows
On steep, rutted, technical climbs the wheels can simply stop turning despite the headline torque figure. There is no low-range transfer case; the single-speed reduction gears can reach a stall point against high resistance, and the only way past an obstacle on 2024–25 cars is momentum — with the damage risk that implies. 2. Towing: 2500 kg and “Power Limited” (2024–25) — fixed for 2026

Second, owners towing heavy report the software cutting power (“Power Limited”) when battery charge drops on long grades: the 1.5T engine can’t simultaneously feed the generator and hold the battery buffer under sustained load. The workaround is procedural — set the battery Save threshold to 50% or higher in HEV mode before hitching up. For 2026, BYD raised braked towing to 3500 kg across the updated range (press coverage ties it to more powerful hardware; accounts of the exact mechanism differ, so we don’t repeat any single one as fact). A 2024–25 car keeps its 2500 kg plate — the update is not retrofittable.
3. Front CV joint and driveshaft failures in sand
Reports from owners using the car in sand or moderate off-road conditions: a friction noise from the front end that progresses to knocking and vibration severe enough to park the car. High motor torque working through the front suspension’s articulation angles appears to be the mechanism. Replacement is the only repair. Preventive habit that costs nothing: avoid full-lock steering under heavy throttle in sand or mud — that’s the load case that kills CV joints.
4. Driver monitoring that cries wolf
The DMS flags yawning, talking, and certain sunglasses as “distracted driving”; lane keep hunts between lines on shadowed regional roads. OTA updates refined sensitivity and the complaints persist.
