The Tiggo 4 sells in big numbers and has been on Australian roads since 2024 — and the honest summary is short: one recall, no documented mechanical failure patterns yet, and two characteristics worth knowing before you buy rather than after. 1. The AEB recall (2024 build) — check it first
Recall REC-006263 (campaign RCB-2501, February 2025) covers 1,923 cars from the 2024 build: a software issue could leave the Autonomous Emergency Braking sound alarm inactive — the braking works, the warning may not — putting the car out of step with ADR 98/01. 2. Fuel use: the claim and the road disagree
The official combined figure is 7.4 L/100km; press testing skewed to urban driving measured 8.8, and reviewer commentary consistently lands above the claim. That’s the price of a conventional 1.5T+CVT with no electrification in 2026 — not a defect, but budget your running costs on the road number, not the brochure one.
3. The ride is soft — deliberately
Comfort-tuned suspension: absorbs city bumps well, leans in corners, floats a little loaded. Consistent across independent reviews. Character, not fault — test-drive your daily route, not the dealership block.
